1975 Ausone St Emilion Red Blend Condition: Idiosyncratic and contradictory as usual. In March 1979 its sweet, almost jammy and chocolatey nose was a complete contrast to the severity of its taste. A very elaborate note, too long to quote, made at Desai's tasting of '75s at Sotheby's in 1984. Certainly an intriguing bouquet and taste, 'singed', its richness tussling with its rawness. Most recently at a very wide range tasting of '75 clarets I conducted in Malmo: my favourite 'dried leaves' simile - nose and taste. Quite good length - but tannic. Last tasted April 1995 *** MB*** |
