2004 Hudelot Noellat Clos Vougeot Rouge
Condition:
In contrast to most of the prior wines, this is almost mute by comparison as the nose is reserved, tight and backward, revealing only glimpses of earthy, floral and gamy aromas that combine with precise, rich and focused flavors that are as tight as the nose. One can easily sense the energy in this wine with ample underlying muscle and structure plus the typical youthful austerity. As good as the Malconsorts is, there is another dimension here as well as slightly better overall potential. In short, this is backward but seriously promising as the balance is impeccable. BH
